Hobart sweeps matches at Buffalo Round Robin

BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Hobart College squash team won all three of its matches at the Buffalo Round Robin to open its 2017-18 season. The Statesmen defeated Washington University and Bard 9-0 and Denison 8-1.

Seniors Divine Wing and Fred Maynor, sophomore Ilyas Khan, and first-years Trevor Laing and Parkman Levis finished the day with 3-0 records. Seniors Cameron Adams, Matthew Frantz, and Jack Shannon were 2-0. In total, Hobart was 23-1 in matches on the weekend.

Against the Big Red, Hobart won seven of its eight points by the score of 3-0.  Laing won his first collegiate match at No. 8 by the score of 11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 12-10.

In the second match of the day, the Statesmen rolled past the Bears 9-0. Hobart won the first six matches 3-0. The Statesmen won matches 7, 8, and 9 by default because the Bears did not have enough players.

Hobart swept Liberty League foe Bard without losing a match.

The Statesmen will be back in action next weekend, Nov. 18-19, when it travels to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Round Robin.
