SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.- The William Smith tennis team dropped its first match of the spring season 9-0 to No. 27 Skidmore this afternoon at the Wilton YMCA. With the loss, the Herons drop to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Liberty League.
 
Skidmore (4-1, 3-0) swept the doubles competition to take an early 3-0 lead in the mach. In the No. 1 spot, seniors Hannah More and Katarina Kostovic fell 8-4 to Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca. First-year Kate Foley and Allie Perron also lost 8-4 to the Thoroughbreds' Ada Wiggins and Brianna Greene.
 
In singles play, Skidmore won 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 3-6. Perron had a tight battle at No. 2 singles but fell 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) to Benn.
 
William Smith will be back in action next Saturday, March. 4, when it hosts Vassar in another Liberty League match.
