ORLANDO, Fla.-The William Smith College tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over St. Norbert College to open its spring break trip this afternoon. With the win, Herons are now 3-2 on the year and have won nine of their last 10 matches in the state of Florida.

William Smith took an early 2-1 lead in the match, following doubles play. Seniors
Hannah More and
Katarina Kostovic continued their strong play at No. 1 doubles, defeating the Green Knights duo of Elizabeth Manlick and Meg Witt 8-3. It was More and Kostovic's third straight win together in the No. 1 spot. Junior
Michaelann Denton and first-year
Allie Perron edged Ashley Randazzo and Anna Gosz 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. It was Denton and Perron's first match together this season. St. Norbert collected its lone point of the match with an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Herons swept singles play to secure the victory. In fact, William Smith won five of its six matches in straight sets. Perron improved to 2-0 in the No. 3 singles spot with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Gosz. Perron is a team-best 8-5 in singles play this season. First-years
Kate Foley won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4, while fellow first-year
Leland Barclay topped Stephanie Doerfert 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 6 spot. Kostovic lost just three games at No. 5 singles, defeating Witt 6-0, 6-3. Denton improved her dual match record to 4-0 with a three set victory at No. 2 singles. She topped the Green Knights' Katherine Ake 6-4, 3-6, 10-4. More improved to 5-5 in her senior campaign with a 6-4, 7-6(8-6) win at No. 1 singles.

The Herons will be back in action on Wednesday, March 14, when it takes on the University of Scranton in Orlando. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
