ROCHESTER, N.Y.- The William Smith College Tennis team was defeated by Rochester 8-1 in a non-conference match at the Goergen Athletic Center this afternoon. The loss drops the Herons to 5-3 on the season while the Yellowjackets improve to 6-2 on the year.

Rochester took a 2-1 lead in the match after doubles play, winning at No. 2 and No. 3. The William Smith senior duo of
Hannah More and
Katarina Kostovic extended their win streak to six matches with an 8-5 win over the Yellowjackets' Camila Garcia and Lauren Zickar. More and Kostovic are a team-best 6-1 in in doubles play this year, playing all seven matches in the No. 1 spot.

Rochester swept singles play to secure the overall victory. The Yellowjackets won three of the six matches in straight sets. More battled with Garcia at No. 1 singles but was edged 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. First-year
Allie Perron took Alex Wolkoff to three sets but fell 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2). Fellow first-year
Kate Foley also went to three sets at No. 4.

The Herons will return to the courts this weekend for a pair of games against nationally ranked opponents. On Saturday, William Smith will play New York University at 11 a.m. The Violets are ranked 33rd in the nation in the latest Oracle/ITA Division III Women's National Team Rankings. On Sunday, The Herons will play at The College of New Jersey at 9 a.m. The Lions are ranked 34th in the nation.
