CLINTON, N.Y.-The William Smith College tennis team was edged by Hamilton 5-4 in a battle of regionally ranked teams this afternoon. The Herons, who were ranked 20th in the latest Oracle/ITA Northeast Regional Rankings, are now 8-7 on the year while the Continentals, who were ranked 16th in the latest regional rankings, are now 10-5 on the year.

William Smith took a lead in the match after winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior

Allie Perron defeated Winnie Tang and Jane Haffer 8-2 at No. 1. More and Perron are now 2-0 on the year, playing both matches in the top spot. Junior
Alex Cattie and first-year
Morgan Hamre bested Claudia Morse and Iona Forrester 8-3 at No. 3. Cattie and Hamre are a perfect 4-0 as a duo this season.

Hamilton rallied to win the match with four singles victories. More extended her winning streak to five straight matches with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1. She is 12-8 this year, including a 9-6 record in the top spot. Sophomore
Alex Greenberg lost only one game as she defeated Morse 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Greenberg is 8-3 in singles play this year.

The Herons will be back in Liberty League play on Saturday, April 23, when it travels to Annandale-on-Hudson to take on Bard.
