The William Smith College tennis team will compete in the 2017 Liberty League Tennis Tournament this weekend, May 5-6, in Ithaca N.Y. The matches will take place at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University.

The Herons finished the regular season with an 11-7 overall record and a 4-3 mark in conference play. William Smith clinched the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament on the final day of the regular season with an 8-1 win over Rensselaer. The Herons will face No. 1 seed Skidmore (10-7, 7-0) in the first semifinal on Friday at noon. When the two teams met back in February, the Thoroughbreds emerged with 9-0 victory in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Second seeded Vassar (15-4, 6-1) will face No. 3 seed St. Lawrence (10-9, 5-2) at 3 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday at 9 a.m. for the conference championship.

Hannah More has turned a seven match win streak into a 14-8 singles record in her final season in Geneva. She has played 17 matches at No. 1 singles and is 11-6. More and fellow senior
Katarina Kostovic are a team-best 9-3 as a doubles duo this year, playing all 12 matches in the top spot. Junior
Michaelann Denton and Perron are right behind them with an 8-2 record in doubles matches, including a 7-2 mark at No. 2.

Skidmore, which was ranked 20th in the latest Oracle/ITA Division III Team Rankings, clinched the tournament's No. 1 seed following an unbeaten run through the conference in the regular season. Renee Karchere-Sun is a team-best 20-7 in singles play this year, playing in the middle of the lineup. Madie Benn and Michelle Fuca are a team-best 12-8 in doubles play.
