The Hobart College soccer team picked up its first win of the 2017 season, topping Potsdam 1-0 in a non-league game tonight in Potsdam, N.Y.

The Statesmen improve to 1-2-1 overall, and the Bears are now 4-2-0 this year.

Hobart's lone goal came off a header by senior
Hunter Critchlow just 17:40 into the match. It was his first goal of the season, and it was set up by his younger brother first-year
Pete Critchlow. It was
Pete Critchlow's first collegiate point.

Morgan Sawyer played all 90 minutes in goal for Hobart and earned his first shutout of the season. Jakeb Mitchell finished with four saves in goal for Potsdam. Each team had eight total shots.

The Statesmen are back in action for Homecoming and Family Weekend, on Saturday, Sept. 16, when they host Geneseo for another non-league contest starting at 2 p.m.
