GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior
Hannah Wood produced her ninth career hat trick this afternoon, leading the Herons to a 6-3 Liberty League victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on McCooey Field. She raised her career goals total to 88, one behind the William Smith record owned by current Assistant Coach Sophie Riskie '07.

Alexandra Frary. Just over four minutes later, junior
Fallon Adair swept home a rebound for a 2-0 lead. Junior
Sierramarie Fitzgerald made it 3-0 with her breakaway goal in the 11th minute. Wood rang up her second tally on a breakaway of her own in the 29th minute.
The Herons enjoyed an 11-1 advantage in shots and had a 7-3 edge in penalty corners in the first half.
Early in the second half, William Smith earned a penalty stroke when an Engineer defender used her body to stop a shot. Senior
Maura Moran converted the opportunity to make it a 5-0 game.

Emily King stopped both shots she faced in 41 minutes of work. First-year
Alexandra DeVito played the final 29 minutes in the cage and also made two saves.
RPI broke up the shutout in the 43rd minute on Jena Dolinar's shot from the left slot. Wood completed her hat trick about five minutes later, batting home a rebound.
First-year Olivia Jackson and senior Megan Jones scored for the Engineers in the final two minutes of play to wrap up the day's scoring. Junior Rachel Kaufman went the distance in goal for Rensselaer, making seven saves.
William Smith finished the game with a 19-7 advantage in shots and a 12-9 edge in penalty corners.
The Herons will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, when they visit Oswego State for a non-conference match.
