GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith ice hockey team skated to a 6-0 win over Lebanon Valley in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action at The Cooler this evening. The win was the Herons ninth of the season, establishing a new record for wins in a season.

Five different players had multi-point games for William Smith (9-3-3, 5-0-2). Seniors
Krista Federow (3a) and Rebeca Begley (3a) and junior
Maura Mulligan (1g, 2a) led the way for the Herons. Sophomore
Gina Scibetta had a game-high two goals while first-year
Jules Kennedy had a goal and an assist. Jillian Moffat made 72 saves in goal for the Dutchmen (2-8-2, 1-3-1).

First-year
Julia Mings opened the scoring at the 4:54 mark of the first period with her sixth goal of the season. She collected a rebound off of Moffatt's left pad and flipped the shot into the open net behind the goalie. Senior
Kiley Fewster and Mulligan were credited with assists on the goal.Â

The Herons doubled their lead at 8:31 of the first period with their first power-play goal of the game. Scibetta played give-and-go with Federow along the left wing and wristed a shot past Moffat's blocker. The assist was Federow's 11th of the season which is a new career-high and a single season record for the captain, breaking her own record of 10 set in 2015 and 2016. Begley collected the secondary assist on the goal.

Mulligan added a second power-play goal 63 seconds later. She collected a pass from Federow in the right faceoff circle and beat Moffat glove side. Begley was credited with her second assist of the game on Mulligan's fourth goal of the season. Â

Neither team found the back of the net in the second period. Moffat made 19 saves to keep the Dutchmen's deficit at three. She robbed
Stephanie Hampton with a brilliant glove save with just over two minutes remaining in the period and then stopped a Federow shot from the low slot with 17 seconds left.

William Smith added three goals in the final 20 minutes of the game. Kennedy pocketed her fifth goal of the season on a two-on-one breakaway with sophomore
Kate Klimaszewski. Klimaszewski fired a cross ice pass to Kennedy who redirected the puck across the goal line. Scibetta scored her second goal of the game and team-leading ninth of the season just under four minutes later. She took a feed from Federow in the left faceoff circle and snapped a shot past Moffat. Mulligan was also credited with an assist on the power-play goal.

Junior
Jordan Roetzer closed out the scoring for the Herons with a power-play goal at 14:02. She picked up a rebound and banked the shot into the goal. Kennedy and sophomore
Taylor Morash were credited with assists on the goal.

Maggie Salmon stopped all 12 shots she faced as she posted her third shutout of the season.

William Smith made the most of its power play opportunities finishing the game 4-for-9 with the extra attacker. The Herons' previous record for power-play goals in a game was three set against New England College during their inaugural season. Lebanon Valley went 0-for-4 with the extra attacker.

The two teams will conclude their weekend series tomorrow afternoon. Faceoff at The Cooler is scheduled for 4 p.m.
