Andrew Longo each tallied four points in a 9-1 NEHC win for the No. 14/15 Hobart College hockey team at Castleton tonight. The Statesmen improved to 9-5-4 overall and 6-3-2 in conference action.

The Spartans fall to 5-10-3 this season and 1-9-1 in the NEHC. It's the most goals scored by Hobart in a game since a 9-2 win over Brockport on Jan. 9, 2016. Wolf registered two goals and two assists in the win. Longo added a goal and three assists. Sophomore

Hobart built a 2-0 lead in the first period. Faulkner scored 5:07 in off an assist from Toupal. At 11:56, Wolf logged his first goal of the game off a feed from Longo. The Statesmen extended their lead to 4-0 in the second period. Wolf tallied his second of the night, this time on a power play, after passes from Longo and junior
Matt Pizzo. It was Wolf's turn to set up Longo with 1:39 left in the second. Shawn Rainville scored Castleton's lone goal with 45 seconds left in the second. Dom Kuziak was credited with the assist.

Hobart recorded five unanswered goals in the third period, the first three on the power play. Sternbach struck first at 1:59, Greiner followed at 5:58 and junior
Tanner Shaw added Hobart's fourth power-play goal of the game at 8:38. Sophomore
Julien Denicourt earned the assist on the Statesmen's seventh goal of the game. Just over a minute later, Toupal found the back of the net to make it 8-1, and Sternbach closed out the scoring with his second of the night, a shorthanded goal, with 5:33 left in the game.

Hobart went 4-for-7 on the power play. The Statesmen killed off all three of the Spartan's power-play attempts. Hobart finished with a 46-20 advantage in shots. Ryan Mudler played the opening 40:00 in goal for Castleton and made 25 saves. Brody Wagner came in for 8:38 and made four saves, and Wyatt Pickrell made eight saves in 11:22.

The Statesmen are back in action tomorrow, Jan. 20, when they travel to take on No. 11/13 Norwich in another NEHC game at 4 p.m.
