The William Smith College swimming and diving team will wrap up the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, Jan. 27, when it hosts Cazenovia and Wells in a double dual meet at Bristol Pool. For the first time, the meet will be streamed on
HWS-All Access.
Â
Seniors
Emily Haskins,
Ava Lillian, and
Kate Moreau will be honored before the meet with a brief senior day ceremony. The Class of 2018 has compiled a 33-8 record in dual meets in their four years as Herons.
Â
The Herons bring a 6-2 record in dual meets into the weekend. William Smith's top performers this season have been sophomore
Anna Leffler and first-years
Molly Egan and
Emma Wilber.
Â
Leffler primarily swims the individual medley and the backstroke events. She holds the school records in the 100-yard backstroke (59.38) and the 400 individual medley (4:44.41) and shares the 50 backstroke record with Vibeke Hopkinson '83 (28.10). Leffler's name also appears on the school record board as a member of the 200 and 400 medley relays.
Â
Egan is a two-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week recipient and swims freestyle events. Â She broke William Smith's 200 freestyle record on Dec. 2, 2017 at the Don Richards invitational. She touched the wall with a time of 1:56.90.
Â
Wilber is a strong all-around swimmer and is coming off a win in the 200 individual medley on Tuesday. Â
Â
On the diving board junior
Therese Mandracchia scored 206.50 points, finishing fifth on the 1-meter board at the Rensselaer Invitational. She was sixth on the 3-meter board at the same meet, posting a score of 202.45.
Â
Head Coach
Kelly Kisner is also chasing a milestone at William Smith. Entering the weekend, she owns a dual meet record of 198-94-1. A pair of wins on Saturday would make her the first Heron swimming and diving coach to compile 200 wins.
Â
Cazenovia is 8-6 in dual meets this season. The Wildcats have not competed since Dec. 9, when they defeated Gallaudet and Cobleskill in a double dual meet. Cazenovia defeated the Bison 218-55 and the Fighting Tigers 227-35.
Wells is 3-6 in dual meets this season. The Express are coming off a 69-16 victory over Delhi on Wednesday.
