TROY, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team capped a 10-game road trip with a 69-57 Liberty League win at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute tonight. The Statesmen, who have not played on their own court since Nov. 21, went 7-3 away from home.
Hobart (9-3, 4-1) shot 51 percent from the floor, 38 percent from 3-point range and sank 15-of-21 free throw attempts. Junior
Jamal Lucas and first-year
Dan Masino led the Statesmen with 13 points apiece. Junior

The Engineers (7-5, 2-3) shot just 36 percent from the floor, 26 percent from 3-point range and earned just nine free throw attempts, making seven. RPI also had three players in double figures led by Andreas Kontopidis' game-high 15 points. Tom Horvat and Marcus Geise each produced 14 points. No other Engineer logged more than four points.
Rensselaer had the upper hand in the early part of the contest, leading by as many as six and as late as the 8-minute mark of the first half, but Hobart seized the lead for good with eight straight points. Brad Featherson's layup with just under eight minutes left in the half, gave the Engineers a 21-19 lead. Sophomore

With about two minutes to go in the half, Kevin Davis converted a layup to get RPI within two, 30-28, but Hobart junior
Sean McKinless countered with a 3-pointer and one. McKinless scored all of his nine points during the first half.
The Statesmen dashed out of the gate in the second half, scoring the first six points to take a 42-32 lead. Lucas led off with a layup and Dougherty notched the next four points. Over the next six and a half minutes, the Engineers outscored Hobart 13-6 to whittle their deficit down to three, but sophomore
Tucker Lescoe quelled the threat with back-to-back triples. From that point on, the Statesmen lead never dipped below seven.
Hobart will be back in action at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 when the Statesmen host Bard (4-7, 2-2).
