TROY, N.Y-The seventh-ranked William Smith College soccer team extended its winning streak to seven games with a 2-0 Liberty League victory over Rensselaer at East Campus Stadium this afternoon. With the victory, the Herons have now recorded four straight shutouts.

William Smith is now 11-2-0 overall and 7-0-0 in Liberty League play thanks to its 10th shutout of the season. With today's victory the Herons clinched a bye in the Liberty League tournament. Â The Engineers fall to 4-7-2 overall and 1-3-2 conference play. Senior

Whitney Wisnom had a pair of scoring opportunities for RPI in the first 15 minutes of the match but senior

For the second straight game, Olick-Sutphen scored the game winning goal for William Smith. She collected a crossing pass from junior
Genevieve Carpenter in the box and one-timed a shot past Joey Lyons from three-yards out. It was Olick-Sutphen's second goal of the season. Hinrichs pocketed her second goal of the season in the 48th minute to give the Herons the 2-0 lead. She played give-and-go with senior
Megan Barwick and shot the ball into the upper right corner of the goal from 28-yards out.

Romines stopped all four shots she faced in goal for William Smith as she posted her fourth straight shutout. Lyons made six saves in goal for the Engineers.

The Herons finished the game with a 13-5 edge in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

William Smith returns to Cozzens Field next Saturday, Oct. 20, when it hosts Vassar. The Liberty League match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
