POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-The 25th-ranked Hobart College squash team posted a 2-2 overall record at the 2018 Liberty League Championship hosted by Vassar College this weekend. The Statesmen defeated Vassar on Saturday and Bard on Sunday to improve to 11-8 on the season.

Hobart opened the tournament with a 9-0 loss to fourth-ranked St Lawrence. The Saints won 3-0 in seven of the nine spots. Sophomore

Fred Maynor forced fourth games at Nos. 4 and 9 respectively. The Statesmen bounced back with a 9-0 win over the host Brewers. Hobart won all nine matches by a 3-0 count. First-year
Archie Levis did not lose a single point as he rolled to an 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 win at No. 8. Maynor lost just two points in a 11-1, 11-1, 11-0 win over Merrick Rubenstein in the seventh spot.Â

This morning, Hobart was defeated by eighth-ranked Rochester 9-0. The Yellowjackets won seven of the nine matches 3-0. Khan and senior
Terrance Rose forced four games at Nos. 2 and 4, respectively. The Statesmen closed out the tournament with a 9-0 win over Bard. It was Hobart's second 9-0 win over Bard this season. Hobart won all nine matches 3-0. Junior
Josh Oakley finished the week 2-2 in the top spot with an 11-3, 11-6, 11-7 win over Rhys Nordstrom. Senior
Divine Wing rolled to an 11-1, 11-3, 11-5 win over Pranjal Ghate at No. 3. Wing is now a team-best 11-8 on the season. Rose picked up his 10th win of the season, knocking off Ayateru Maeda 11-6, 11-4, 11-5 at No. 2.

St. Lawrence won its fifth-straight Liberty League Championship, posting a 4-0 record on the weekend. Rochester was second with its lone loss coming to the Saints. Hobart was third with a 2-2 over record. Bard (1-3) and Vassar (0-4) rounded out the field.

The Statesmen will be back in action Feb. 23-25, when it travels to Hartford, Conn. For the College Squash Association Team National Championships.
