Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Ithaca in Liberty League play this afternoon inside Bristol Field House this afternoon. With the win, the Herons improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League.

Allie Perron posted an 8-0 win over Sara Steinberg and Parley Hannan at No. 3. Senior
Michaelann Denton and first-year
Dina Rigas edged Kathryn Shaffer and Caroline Dunn 8-6 in the top spot. Denton and Rigas are 4-4 in doubles play this season, including a 2-2 record at No. 1. The Bombers (1-3, 1-2) earned their lone point in the match with a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles.
The Herons won all six singles matches in straight sets. Perron notched her first singles win of the season, knocking off Brianna Ruback 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. Denton bested Shaffer 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2. The win was Denton's 50th career singles win. Sophomore
Kate Foley defeated Caroline Dunn 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 while first-year
Charlotte Engebrecht topped Taylor Ginestro 6-2, 6-2. Foley is 4-2 on the season while Engebrecht is 2-3 in her rookie campaign. Rigas and Greenberg closed out the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Rigas won 6-3, 6-1 and Greenberg won 6-0, 6-0.
The Herons will be back in action when they travel to Orlando, Fla., for their annual spring break trip. William Smith will open the trip with a matches against New Paltz and North Central on March 19.
