Melissa Moore led the No. 20 Herons with six points on four goals and two assists in a 16-3 Liberty League victory over Vassar on Boswell Field today. With their third straight win, the Herons improve to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

Olivia Hofmann came in for the second half and made two saves.
The Brewers fall to 3-8 this season and 2-4 in the Liberty League. Storm Sideleau led Vassar with two goals. Tessa Waters had an assist, a team-high four draws and shared a game-high with three caused turnovers. Four Brewers picked up two ground balls. Julia Sledzik played all 60 minutes in goal and made six saves.
The Herons scored the first five goals of the game. Sophomore
Nicki Santora opened the scoring with her 11th goal of the season 1:05 into the game. First-year
Anna Murphy found the back of the net after a feed from Mapstone at 5:02 in. A little over a minute later, Gahagan made it 3-0. With 22:08 left in the first, first-year
Ellie Burns scored her ninth goal of the year after a pass from Moore, and Gahagan struck again with 18:40 on the clock. Sideleau put Vassar on the board off a feed from Waters with 12:12 remaining to make it 5-1 at the break.
Sideleau struck again to open the second half, logging a free position goal 1:05 in to get the Brewers within two. However, William Smith scored the next nine goals to run away with the game. Moore opened the run with back-to-back tallies. First-year
Rachel Yackel produced her 10th goal of the year followed by a free position tally from Benyo, her 23rd goal this year. Moore made it 10-2 with her third of the day, and Gahagan chipped in her third of the afternoon after an assist from Mapstone. Moore tallied her fourth of the game and team-leading 33rd goal this season to make it 12-2 with 17:41 remaining. Gahagan also recorded her fourth of the day followed by Benyo's second of the afternoon to give the Herons a 13-2 advantage with 13:56 left. With nine minutes to go, Olivia O'Loughlin capitalized on a free position for Vassar, but the Herons closed out the game with two more goals. First-year
Delia Lawver logged her second of the season off an assist from Ebby, and then Ebby scored her third of the year for the final score.
The Herons finished with a 24-11 advantage in shots and a 21-11 lead in ground balls. Vassar had a 12-9 advantage at the draw circle. William Smith was successful on 19-of-22 clear attempts. The Brewers went 10-for-14 on clears.
The Herons are back in action on Saturday, April 21, when they travel to take on Rochester in a Liberty League game at 2 p.m.
