GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College tennis team was defeated by 21st-ranked New York University 8-1 in Bristol Field House this afternoon. The Herons are now 8-5 overall this season.
The Violets (8-0) swept doubles play to take control of the match. NYU won 8-2 at the No. 1 spot and 8-1 in the No. 2 spot. First-years

Katelyn Nguyen battled in the third spot but fell 8-6 to Rupa Ganesh and Judy Kam.
NYU clinched the match thanks to five singles wins. The Violets won all five matches in straight sets. Junior
Alex Greenberg notched William Smith's lone point in today's game. She defeated Vanessa Scott. Greenberg is now 6-6 in singles play this season.
The Herons will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Hamilton College. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
