ENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College soccer team was edged by Potsdam 2-1 on Cozzens Field this afternoon. The Statesmen are now 1-2-1 on the season while the Bears improve to 3-2-1.

Hobart took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Senior
Mouhamed Diouf collected a loose ball just inside the box and one-timed a shot past Jakeb Mitchell into the goal.

The Statesmen opened the second half with two golden scoring opportunities. Diouf and fellow senior
Derrick Acheampong had shots from inside the box turned aside by Mitchell.

Potsdam tied the game 1-1 in the 63rd minute when Alejandro Callejas pocketed his fourth goal of the season. He picked up his own rebound in the box, dribbled around
Alec Kaminer and sent the ball across the goal line.

Hobart nearly regained its one goal lead in the 80th minute, but
Juan Widoycovich's line drive shot from 25-yards out was steered aside by Mitchell.

Potsdam took a 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute on a Hobart own goal. A Bears' forward put a crossing pass into the box that a Statesmen defender attempted to clear over the end line but put into his own net.

Hobart finished the game with a 15-11 edge in shots and earned an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.

Kaminer played all 90 minutes in goal for the Statesmen, stopping five shots. At the opposite end of the pitch, Mitchell made eight saves, playing all 90 minutes.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when it travels to Geneseo for another non-conference match.
