HENRIETTA, N.Y.—The Hobart College soccer team needed extra time to earn its first Liberty League win of the season this afternoon. But only an additional 40 seconds.
After the Statesmen and the host RIT Tigers played a scoreless regulation, junior
Tristan Cornell Roberts scored the golden goal 40 seconds into overtime, snapping Hobart's six-match winless streak. Sophomore
Pete Critchlow set up the game winner with a service into the middle of the box. Cornell Robert's first goal of the season couldn't have come at a better time as it ended a stretch of six games that saw the Statesmen go 0-4-2.
Senior
Alec Kaminer earned the win in goal, making four saves. His RIT counterpart, Will Sokol, registered five stops.
The Tigers outshot the Statesmen 10-8, but Hobart had a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-7 edge in corner kicks.
Hobart (2-4-2, 1-0-1) continues Liberty League play on Saturday, Sept. 29, when the Statesmen travel to Bard. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
