GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College hockey team scored three goals in each period as it cruised to a 9-0 victory over Skidmore in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this evening. Thirteen different players recorded at least a point in the victory for the Statesmen.

Aaron Maguyon (2g, 1a) and
Zach Tyson (3a) and sophomore
Travis Schneider (2g, 1a) each had a game-high three points in the victory. Sophomore
Ryan Lynch added two goals. First-year
Liam Lascelle stopped all 21 shots he faced on his way to earning the second shutout of his career. Brandon Kasel and Brian Kowalski split time in goal for the Thoroughbreds (10-7-2, 6-4-2). Kasel started and made 30 saves while Kowalski stopped 18 shots after coming on in relief.

The Statesmen (13-6-0, 7-5-0) opened the scoring at the 5:27 mark of the first period. Maguyon collected a pass from sophomore
Mike Faulkner in the left faceoff circle, deked around a defender, and wristed a shot past Kasel. It was Maguyon's sixth goal of the season. Four minutes later Schneider doubled Hobart's lead. He picked up a loose puck in the slot and flipped it over Kasel's pads. Tyson and Maguyon were credited with assists on the goal. Schneider struck again at the 18:03 mark of the first period. He fired a one-timer from the right faceoff circle into the back of the net. The power-play goal was assisted by sophomores
Mark Benemerito and
Mitchell Spring. The goal was Schneider's 10th of the season.

Lynch opened the second period with his second goal of the season. Just under two minutes into the period, he picked off a clearing attempt and snapped a shot from the point past Kasel. It was a power-play goal. Lynch added a second goal just past the midway point of the game. Junior
Will Harrison won a faceoff back to Lynch, who was standing at the top of the left faceoff circle. Lynch one timed the shot into the upper left corner of the goal. It was his third goal of the season. Senior
Jack Macnee made it 6-0 four minutes later. He blasted a slap shot from the right point through traffic past Kasel. His first goal of the season was assisted by Tyson and Schneider.

Maguyon, junior
Lawson MacDougall and Benemerito added goals in the third period. Maguyon's second goal of the game and seventh of the season came at the 4:40 mark. He wristed a shot from the slot past Kowalski. Tyson was credited with an assist on the goal. Twenty-four seconds later, MacDougall added his eighth goal of the season. Senior
Matt Pizzo's shot from the point was turned aside by Kowalski. MacDougall pounced on the rebound, poking the loose puck across the goal line. Junior
Zach Sternbach was credited with the secondary assist on the goal. Benemerito's power-play goal gave the Statesmen the final margin. His third goal of the season was assisted by senior
Tanner Shaw, who was playing in the 100th game of his career.

Hobart finished the game with a 57-21 edge in shots on goal. The Statesmen, who entered the game with the conference's best power-play unit, was 3-for-8 with the man advantage. The Thoroughbreds were 0-for-4 with the extra attacker.

Hobart will hit the road for the final time in the regular season next weekend. The Statesmen will take on New England College on Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. in Henniker, N.H., before heading to Southern Maine on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 4 p.m.
