BUFFALO, N.Y. —The Hobart College squash team opened the 2019-20 season with a win over Denison, and a loss to Chatham. The Statesmen defeated the Big Red 8-0, and were edged by the Cougars 5-4.
In the win over Denison, sophomore
Mohamed Abdelhafez earned a win in the No. 1 spot. Junior
Quinn Udy swept Henry Rosenberg 11-5, 12-10, 11-9 at No. 2. First-year
James Mazzarelli recorded his first collegiate win at the No.3 spot 11-7, 11-9, 11-5. Sophomore
Cameron Temoyan defeated Mario Reitschneider 12-10, 11-1, 10,-12, 11-3 at No. 4. Junior
Archie Levis swept Mike Ferrick 11-5, 11-4, 11-4 at No. 5. First-year
Charlie Beall notched his first collegiate win at No. 6, and sophomore
Eric Molina recorded a win at No. 7. Junior
Jeffrey Wan collected a win at No. 8 11-6, 11-5, 11-2.
In the match against Chatham, Udy defeated Mohamed Sadek at No. 2 11-9, 19-17, 11-9. Beall notched a win at No. 6 11-5, 11-6, 12-10, and Molina swept Jeffrey Duclos 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 at No. 7. Wan defeated Drew Brannon at No. 8 7-11, 11-1, 7-11, 11-9, 13-11.
The Statesmen will be back in action Friday, Nov. 15 when they host St. Lawrence at the Smith Squash Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
