GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College football team will host Liberty League rival Buffalo State College at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 for the final regular season home game. Prior to kickoff, the Statesmen will honor the program's 12 seniors.
The Hobart Class of 2020 has compiled a 27-11 overall record during their time on campus, winning the 2016 Liberty League Championship.
It will be Hobart's first night game on Boswell Field since Sept. 16, 2017, when the Statesmen beat Shenandoah 56-30 under the lights on Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Hobart ran its overall record to 6-2 with a 35-3 win over St. Lawrence last weekend. The Statesmen created four first half turnovers, including a pair of interceptions by senior free safety
Andrew Koonz, and rushed for a season-high 315 yards, including 146 yards by senior running back
Brian Haeffner.
Buffalo State is making its first trip to Geneva since the team's last meeting on Nov. 6, 1993, a 10-0 Hobart victory. The series is tied at three games apiece.
The Bengals are 1-7 overall following a 28-26 loss at Rensselaer last week. Buff State carried a 24-21 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Engineers moved back in front with a touchdown midway through the final frame and held on for the victory.
The Statesmen are fourth in the league in scoring offense (23.8 ppg) and third in scoring defense (17.3 ppg). The Bengals are sixth in both categories, scoring 16.4 ppg and giving up 34.3 ppg. Buffalo State's offense averaged just over 11 more yards per game than Hobart's (330.9-319.3), but the Statesmen have a decisive advantage in total defense, yielding 348.6 yards per game (3rd in the league) compared to 423.6 yards per game for the Bengals (7th).
The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.3/90.5). Fans can also follow the action online with
