MIDDLETOWN, Conn. —The No. 32 Hobart College squash team fell to No. 36 Bard 5-4, and No. 28 Wesleyan 9-0 at the 2019 Wesleyan Round Robin this weekend. The Statesmen fall to 1-6 overall this season.
In the match against the Raptors, junior
Quinn Udy defeated Theo Webb 11-6, 11-6, 11-2 in the No. 1 spot. Sophomore
Cameron Temoyan forced a fourth set, but Artun Ak fought back, winning 12-10, 17-15, 2-11, 12-10. In the No. 3 spot, first-year
James Mazzarelli defeated Noah Gichan in four sets 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 11-2. Junior Archi Levis captured the second set at No. 4, but fell to Martin Graham 11-8, 6-11, 11-5, 11-9. Sophomore
Quran Davis notched a win at No. 5 over Devon Wall 11-7, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9. Sophomore
Eric Molina won in three sets 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 in the No. 6 spot on the ladder. The Statesmen dropped two matches in the No. 7 and 8 spot, and had to forfeit at No. 9.
In the match against the Cardinals, Udy fought hard in the No. 1 spot, forcing five matches. Udy fell 13-11, 11-6, 5-11, 9-11, 14-12. Temoyan forced a fourth set, but fell to John Sutherby 18-16, 11-2, 8-11, 11-6 in the No. 2 spot. Mazzarelli also forced four sets, but lost to Shanay Sanghavi 11-4, 7-11, 11-2, 11-6 at No. 3. Levis lost a close first set 12-10, and lost the next two 11-4, 11-6, at No. 4. Davis fell in four sets to Alex Dreyfus 11-4, 4-11, 11-6, 11-9 at No. 5.
The Statesmen have concluded the 2019 portion of their schedule. They will return to action Sunday, Jan. 19, when they travel to Fordham University. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
