CANTON, N.Y.-The Hobart College squash team posted a 2-2 overall record at the 2019 Liberty League Championship hosted by St. Lawrence University this weekend. The Statesmen defeated Bard on Saturday and Vassar on Sunday to improve to 6-11 overall on the season.

Hobart opened the tournament with a 9-0 loss to third-ranked Rochester. The Yellowjackets won all nine matches 3-0. In the afternoon, the Statesmen bounced back with a 9-0 win over the Raptors. Hobart won eight of the nine matches 3-0. Junior
Joshua Pugliese clinched the overall victory with an 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 victory in the No. 8 spot. First-year
Mohamed Abdelhafez knocked off Rhys Nordstrom 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 in the No. 1 spot. First-year
Eric Molina opened the match with an 11-2, 11-6, 11-9 victory in the No. 6 spot.

This morning, Hobart knocked off Vassar 9-0. The Statesmen won 3-0 in all nine spots of the lineup. First-year
Henry Amory led off for Hobart, posting an 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 victory in the No. 9 spot. Sophomore
Quinn Udy clinched the overall victory knocking off Caden Gruber 11-8, 11-5, 11-1 at No. 2. Abdelhafez recorded the 10th win of his rookie campaign, besting Viraj Nandkarni 11-1, 11-2, 11-4.

Hobart wrapped up the tournament against No. 13 St. Lawrence. The Hosts won 9-0, sweeping the matches in all nine position.

Rochester claimed the Liberty League title after posting a 4-0. The Yellowjackets defeated St. Lawrence 6-3 on Saturday and won their other three matches 9-0 to win their first title since the 2012-13 season. St. Lawrence was second with a 3-1 record. Hobart was third with a 2-2 overall record. Bard (1-3) and Vassar (0-4) rounded out the field.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 5, when they welcome Hamilton to Geneva, N.Y. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Smith Squash Center.
