GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College tennis team was defeated by Oberlin 5-4 in a non-conference match in Bristol Field House this afternoon. Today's game was the Herons first dual match of the season.

William Smith took a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. Juniors
Kate Foley and
Allie Perron defeated Alandria Bellamy and Maja Shaw Todorovic 8-3 in the No. 2 spot. Sophomores
Charlotte Engebrecht and
Katelyn Nguyen also notched an 8-3 win, beating Claudia Olaes and Hannah Keidan in the No. 3 spot.

Oberlin rallied to win the match with singles wins at Nos. 1, 3, 4, and 5. First-year
Maggie Bonomo bested Francesca Kern 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot. It was Bonomo's seventh singles win of the season. Junior
Leland Barclay closed out the match with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Rebecca Shiloff at No. 6.

William Smith will be back in action next Sunday, March 10, when it welcomes RIT to Bristol Field House. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
