ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Hobart College tennis team defeated the University of Rochester 5-4 this evening. The Statesmen are now 9-4 overall.
The Statesmen ended doubles play with a 2-1 lead. First-years
Thomas Shung and
Jack Ledford won at No. 2 defeating Sahaj Somani and Pasquale Procaccino 8-7 (7-5). Junior
Alan Dubrovsky and sophomore
Walker Anderson beat Masaru Fujimaki and Runjia Fang 8-5 in the No. 1 spot. Senior
Jonathan Atwater and junior
Colin Molloy fell to Yifan Shen and Tanmay Thakkar 8-2 at No. 3.
Ledford clinched the match for the Statesmen, defeating Thakkar 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, in the No. 4 spot. Ledford is 8-3 in the No. 4 spot this season. Atwater notched a win at No. 2 over Fang 6-4, 6-4. Dubrovsky fell to Fujimaki 4-6, 2-6 in the No. 1 spot. Anderson bested Shen 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 3. Anderson has now won six straight matches in singles play. Shung fell to Somani 3-6, 4-6 in the No. 5 spot. Molloy fell to Mark Zolotukhin 5-7, 3-6 at No. 6.
Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, April 13 when it travels to New York City to face New York University. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
