Statesmen blank St. Lawrence

GENEVA, N.Y. — The Hobart College tennis team swept St. Lawrence University 9-0 this afternoon inside Bristol Field House. The Statesmen are now 12-6 overall and finished 6-2 in the Liberty League.
 
Hobart led 3-0 at the conclusion of doubles play. Senior Jonathan Atwater and first-year Jack Ledford swept Joshua Marvald and Nico Haet 8-0 at No. 2. Junior Alan Dubrovsky and sophomore Walker Anderson notched a win at No. 1 over Quinn Bermingham and Leo Romanetz 8-5. Dubrovsky and Anderson are 13-5 in the No. 1 spot this season. Junior Colin Molloy and first-year Thomas Shung defeated Alec Roslin and Spencer Whitmire 8-7 (5-7) at No. 3.
 
The Statesmen clinched the match in singles play. Dubrovsky bested Romanetz 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 1 spot. Atwater had his eighth consecutive singles win, besting Haet 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Ledford notched a win at No. 3 over Whitmire 6-2, 3-6, 10-7. Shung recorded a win at No. 4 over Roslin 6-2, 6-3. Molloy defeated Jordan Mamelak 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 5 spot. Senior David Reinharz recorded a win at No. 6 over Arman Tavana 6-4, 7-5.
 
Hobart will be back in action Friday, May 3, for the first round of the Liberty League Tournament as the 3 seed.
