ITHACA, N.Y. —The William Smith College tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Liberty League tournament thanks to a 5-0 victory over Ithaca College at Cornell's Reis Tennis Center this afternoon. The Herons will take on second seed Vassar tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
The third-seeded Herons swept doubles play 3-0. Sophomores
Charlotte Engebrecht and
Katelyn Nguyen notched the first point for William Smith defeating Sara Steinberg and Shannon Wolfe 8-1 in the No. 3 spot. Engebrecht and Nguyen are 16-6 in doubles play this season. Sophomore

Maggie Bonomo edged Kathryn Shaffer and Caroline Dunn for their ninth doubles win this season 8-7 at No. 1. Juniors
Kate Foley and
Allie Perron tallied a win at No. 3 over Brianna Ruback and Alexandra Dyszewski 8-6. Foley and Perron are 15-4 in doubles play this season.
In singles play, Bonomo notched a point 6-0, 6-1 over Dunn in the No. 2 spot. Bonomo has won six consecutive singles matches and is 15-4 in the No. 2 spot this season. Junior
Leland Barclay clinched the match with her 18th singles win over Sara Steinberg 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot. Perron dropped the first set 6-3 and was leading 3-0 in the No. 1 spot when the match was clinched. Foley won the first set 7-5 and was behind 1-0 at No. 3. Rigas dropped the first set 6-3 and won the second set 6-0 at No. 4 when the match was called. Greenberg was leading 6-1, 5-3 in the No. 6 spot.
The Herons and Brewers will meet tomorrow at Cornell's Reis Tennis Center in the semifinals. Vassar won the regular season match 7-2 in Bristol Field House on Mar. 31.
