AMHERST, MA. — The Hobart College tennis team competed in two matches today. In the morning, the Statesmen fell to Amherst 8-1, and in the afternoon, the Statesmen defeated Colby-Sawyer 9-0.
In the first match of the day, senior
Alan Dubrovsky and junior
Walker Anderson fell to Sean Wei and Harris Foulkes 8-5 at No. 1. First-years
Kaan Ayman and
Harry Lyu were defeated by Damien Ruparel and Marek Michulka 8-6. First-year
Jett Wright and sophomore
Jack Ledford fell to Kevin Ma and William Turchetta 8-2.
In singles play, Ayman notched a win for the Statesmen besting Ma 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 2. Dubrovsky lost in the No. 1 spot to Wei 4-6, 6-2, 9-11. Lyu fell at No. 3 to Foulkes 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 7-10. Anderson lost to Turchetta 3-6, 1-6 in the No. 4 spot. Ledford fell 2-6, 4-6 to Ruparel at No. 5. Shung lost 2-6, 2-6 to Michulka in the No. 6 spot.
In the afternoon, Anderson and Dubrovsky defeated Cam Lynch and Matt Burke 8-1 in the No. 1 spot. Wright and Ledford topped Mike White and Julius Lowman 8-5 in the No. 2 spot. Senior
Colin Molloy and sophomore
Thomas Shung defeated Khameron Savatdy and Griffin Forberg 8-1 in the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, Ledford bested White 3-6, 7-5, 10-3 at No. 1. Sophomore
Jeremy Atwater defeated Lowman 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot. Molloy bested Burke 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Senior
Joe Mallon topped Forberg 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 spot. Wright defeated Lynch 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5. First-year
Leo Bakiri bested Savatdy 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Statesmen will be back on the court when they host the ITA Northeast Regional Championships in Geneva, N.Y. next weekend Sept. 27-29.
