CHARLESTOWN, Mass.-The fifth-ranked Hobart College hockey team skated to a 4-4 tie with Suffolk in a New England Hockey Conference contest at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Rink this evening. The Statesmen are now 10-3-3 overall with a 4-3-2 mark in NEHC play.

Zach Tyson led Hobart, recording a game-high two goals. Junior
Alec Robitaille and first-year
Brenden Howell also scored for the Statesmen. Sophomore
Joe Halstrom started in goal and made 15 saves.

Brian Brooks finished with a game-high four points on a goal and three assists for Suffolk (5-9-2, 1-6-2). Joseph Mortillaro (1g, 1a) also notched two points. Cal Wilcox started in goal and made a career-high 56 saves.

Hobart controlled the game from the opening whistle and outshot the Rams 15-2 in the opening period. Â Junior
Andrew Longo had the first major scoring chance. He wristed shot past Wilcox, but the puck rang off the right goal post. Sophomore
Jake Gresh pounced on the rebound, but his shot was stopped by Wilcox.

The Rams opened the scoring at the 16:14 mark of the first period. Mortillaro deked around Halstrom and wristed a shot into the upper left corner of the cage. Joe Vingi and Brooks were credited with assists on Mortillaro's third goal of the season.

Two minutes later, Howell tied the game with his fifth goal of the season. He fired a shot into the upper right corner of the cage. Seniors

Lawson MacDougall were credited with an assist on the goal.

Just over three minutes into the second period, the Statesmen took a 2-1 lead on Tyson's third goal of the season. He picked up a loose puck in the slot and flipped it past Wilcox. Tyson struck again at the 17:18 mark to give Hobart a two-goal lead. He redirected a shot from the point across the goal line. Junior

Chase Bell were credited with assists on the goal.

Two minutes later, Suffolk made it 3-2 on Brooks' fifth goal of the season. Mortillaro was credited with an assist on the goal. Mortillaro intercepted a clearing pass and flipped the puck to Brooks, who fired a one-timer past Halstrom.

The Rams tied the game at the 2:52 mark of the third period. John Garrity slipped a shot past Halstrom for his third goal of the season. Phil Kreuser and Brooks were awarded assists on the goal.
Hobart regained a one-goal lead on Robitaille's team-leading eighth goal of the season. Sophomore

Ryan Lynch were credited with assists on the goal. Robitaille slapped a shot from the left faceoff circle across the goal line.

With time running out, Suffolk pulled Wilcox in favor of the extra attacker. The move paid off as Max Rand redirected an Alex Kolowrat shot into the back of the net. Brooks was credited with the secondary assist on the power-play goal.

The Statesmen held a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal in the overtime period, but were unable to net the game-winning goal.

Hobart finished the game with a 60-19 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams were 1-for-3 on the power play.

The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 18, when they travel to take on Johnson & Wales. Faceoff in Providence, R.I., is scheduled for 4 p.m.
