BRONX, N.Y.— The No. 38 Hobart College squash team defeated No. 34 Fordham this afternoon 7-2 on the Lombardi Squash Courts. The Statesmen improve to 2-6 overall this season.
 
Junior Quinn Udy won a four set battle, defeating Griffin Fitzgerald at No. 1, 11-5, 11-5, 5-11, 13-11. In the No. 2 spot, sophomore Mo Abdelhafez defeated Tommy White 11-4, 11-3, 11-3. First-year James Mazzarelli bested Winthrop Reed 11-0, 11-6, 11-7 at No. 3. Sophomore Cameron Temoyan recorded a win over Justin George 11-6, 11-7, 14-12 in the No. 4 spot. Sophomore Quran Davis battled hard in the No. 5 spot, but fell in five sets 8-11, 11-8, 9-22, 11-1, 7-11. Sophomore Eric Molina notched a win at No. 6 over Jacob Bennett 11-5, 5-11, 11-9, 11-3. Another five set match at No. 7, first-year Charlie Beall fell to Caleb Schumacher 7-11, 11-7, 3-11, 11-8, 8-11. Junior Jeffrey Wan and first-year Giacomo Dalle Molle won by default.
 
The Statesmen will be back in action Friday, Jan. 24 when they travel to Amherst, Mass. for the 2020 Pioneer Valley Invitational. Hobart will play Connecticut College Friday at 6 p.m. to open the tournament.
