GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College ice hockey team scored four goals in the third period as they raced past Stevenson 6-0 in an United Collegiate Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this afternoon. William Smith is now 9-7-0 overall on the season and 5-2-0 in the UCHC.

For the second straight day, senior
Gina Scibetta eclipsed a William Smith career record, netting her 41st and 42nd career goals. Junior
Julia Mings finished with a game-high three points on two goals and an assist. Junior
Jules Kennedy also finished the game with a pair of assists. Junior
Olivia Williams stopped all 44 shots she faced as she recorded her second shutout of the season. Williams now has 25 career wins, which matches William Smith's program record held by Maggie Salmon '18.

Annika Carlander started in goal and made 28 saves in just over 53 minutes in goal for Stevenson (5-7-2, 3-4-0). Annie Smyth-Hammond played the final seven minutes and made two saves.

The teams traded chances in the first period with William Smith finishing with a slight 12-11 edge in shots on goal. Allyson Barlow had the game's first scoring chance in the opening minute, but her shot from the point was blocked by Mings. First-year
Liza Diffley had William Smith's first scoring opportunity, but Carlander made a glove save to keep the game scoreless.

William Smith opened the scoring at the 19:24 mark of the first period. Scibetta banged home a rebound for her fifth goal of the season. First-years
Mia LaPlante and
Julianna Gong were credited with assists on the goal. Scibetta's 41st career goal broke the previous record held by Krista Federow '18.

The Mustangs gained a little traction in the middle period, but were unable to solve Williams. Nikki Kendrick blasted a one-timer from the left faceoff circle that was turned aside by a diving
Olivia Williams.

The Herons extended their lead to two goals on senior
Kate Klimaszewski's second goal of the season. She collected a feed from Kennedy in the left faceoff circle and chipped a shot over Carlander. Kennedy and Mings were awarded assists on the goal.

Laura Hill were credited with assists on the tally. Three minutes later, Scibetta notched her sixth goal of the season. Smyth-Hammond dove at a crossing pass in an attempt to clear the puck from danger. Her poke check went right to Scibetta, who flipped the puck into the empty cage. Just over a minute later, Mings rounded out the scoring with her fifth goal of the season. Kennedy was credited with an assist on the goal.

The Mustangs had opportunities in the third period, but Williams made several post-to-post saves to preserve the shutout.

Stevenson finished the game with a 44-36 edge in shots on goal. Neither team found the back of the net on the power play. The Mustangs were 0-for-4 and the Herons were 0-for-3 with the extra attacker.

William Smith will be back at The Cooler next weekend, Jan. 25-26, when it welcomes Lebanon Valley and Chatham to Geneva for a pair of UCHC games. Faceoff in both contests is scheduled for 4 p.m.
