GENEVA, N.Y.-The William Smith College ice hockey team cruised to a 6-0 win over Lebanon Valley at The Cooler this afternoon. With their third straight win, the Herons are now 10-7-0 overall and 6-2-0 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play.
 
First-year 
Julianna Gong (2g, 1a) and senior 
Gina Scibetta (1g, 2a) finished with a game-high three points each. Junior 
Jules Kennedy and first-year 
Mia LaPlante had two assists each. Sophomore 
Amanda Aalto started in goal and stopped all 13 shots she faced as she recorded the third shutout of her career.
 
Shelby Guinard started in goal for Lebanon Valley (3-12-1, 1-6-1) and made four saves before being pulled. Jillian Moffat came on in relief and made 65 saves in 55 minutes of action.
 
William Smith opened the scoring 94 seconds into the game. First-year 
Izzy Friedman redirected a shot from the left faceoff circle past Guinard. Junior 
Alison Weiss and first-year 
Alisa Canney were credited with assists on Friedman's first collegiate goal. Just under three minutes later, Gong notched her first goal of the game to give William Smith a 2-0 lead. She banged home a rebound for her fourth goal of the season. LaPlante and Scibetta were awarded assists on the goal. Scibetta added a goal of her own at the 15:09 mark of the period. She flipped a shot over Moffat for her seventh goal of the season. Gong and LaPlante collected assists on the goal.
 
The Herons continued to apply the pressure in the second period, outshooting Lebanon Valley 30-3. First-year 
Laura Hill gave William Smith a 4-0 lead with her fifth goal of the season. She one-timed a shot from the left faceoff circle past Moffatt. Junior 
Jules Kennedy was credited with an assist on the goal. Just past the midway point of the second period, Gong notched her second goal of the game. Off a faceoff win, Scibetta threw a puck on goal. It bounced off of Gong's skate and into the back of the net. The goal was Gong's fifth of the season. First-year 
Lauren Jackson rounded out the scoring with her first collegiate goal. She fired a shot from the slot past Moffatt. Junior 
Lexi Nottke and Kennedy were credited with assists on the goal.
 
Neither team found the back of the net in the third period.
 
William Smith finished the game with a 75-13 edge in shots on goal. The Herons were 0-for-2 on the power play and the Dutchmen were 0-for-4.
 
William Smith will return to action tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 26, when it welcomes Chatham to the Cooler. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
