POTSDAM, N.Y.—Junior
Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou led four Herons in double figures as William Smith College defeated Clarkson University 63-55 in a Liberty League women's basketball game tonight. She scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting with three 3-pointers, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots.

Olivia Parisi added a double-double on 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Classmate
Stella Davis made a team-high four 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. First-year
Lauren DeVaney chipped in 11 points and eight boards.
The Herons shot 37.9% from the floor and made more free throws (10) than the Golden Knights attempted (8). William Smith enjoyed a 45-36 rebounding advantage.
Clarkson got a game-high 27 points, three assists and three steals from Hannah Earl. Rachel Marion was the only other Golden Knight in double digits, notching 14 points.
William Smith (9-6, 5-3) used a 12-3 first quarter run to turn a 7-2 deficit into a 14-10 lead. Davis fueled the run with a pair of 3-pointers. The Herons led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. After trading the lead back-and-forth several times in the second quarter, William Smith ended the half with eight straight points. Schreder capped the surge with a 3-pointer.
Dimitrakopoulou led the Herons with 11 points at the break. William Smith shot 39% in the opening 20 minutes while limiting Clarkson to 26%. The Herons also held the upper hand on the glass, outrebounding the Golden Knights 26-16.
In the third quarter, Clarkson (6-8, 2-6) ripped off seven straight points to get within four, 42-38, but William Smith scored the final four points of the frame to take a 46-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Herons held the lead throughout the final 10 minutes. Earl hit a 3-pointer with just over a minute to go and then came up with a steal that lead to a layup by Emma Buonanno, narrowing William Smith's lead to 59-53 with 40 seconds left. Dimitrakopoulou quelled the threat with a layup.
The Herons will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 25, when they visit St. Lawrence (10-5, 6-2). Tipoff in Canton is scheduled for 2 p.m.
