GENEVA, N.Y.-The eighth-ranked Hobart College hockey team scored four goals in the first period and held on to defeat Bryn Athyn 5-4 to win the 2020 Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational at Warrior Ice Arena this evening. With the win, Hobart is now 9-3-1 on the season.

Alec Grollman scored two goals in the loss for the Lions (7-5-2). Ismael Ralsten made 26 saves in just over 59 minutes of action.

Hobart took control of the game right from the opening whistle, jumping out to a 4-1 lead after the first period. It was the fifth time this season the Statesmen have scored four or more goals in a single period. Martineau opened the scoring at the 3:08 mark of the first period with his third goal of the tournament. He broke into the offensive zone and slipped a shot past Ralsten. Coffey was credited with an assist on the shorthanded goal. It was Martineau's fourth goal of the season. Three minutes later, Longo gave Hobart a 2-0 lead with his third tally of the season. He one-timed a shot from the left faceoff circle into the back of the net. Sliney and Harrison were credited with assists on the goal. Just over a minute later, Robitaille gave Hobart a three goal lead with his team-leading sixth goal of the season. He banked home a rebound attempt from the slot. First-year Felix Lamoureux was credited with an assist on the goal.

Bryn Athyn answered 44 seconds later. Connor Devereux collected a pass from Eric Higgins at the offensive blue line and wristed a shot past Halstrom. It was Devereux's second goal of the season.

The Statesmen regained a three-goal lead on Harrison's second goal of the season. With 50 seconds remaining in the period, he redirected a shot from Sliney past Ralsten. Longo was also credited with an assist on the goal.

Hobart scored the lone goal of a tightly contested second period. Spring pounced on a loose puck in the slot and poked it across the goal line. It was his first collegiate goal. Junior

Bryn Athyn staged a furious rally in the third period, but fell one goal short. Grollman opened the scoring at the 2:20 mark of the period. He forced a turnover in the neutral zone and snapped a shot past Halstrom for his third goal of the season. Five minutes later, Grollman struck again snapping a one-timer into the net. Dakota Ulmer notched an assist on the goal. Nikita Smirnov made it a one-goal game with his seventh goal of the season. With the Lions on the power play, he rifled a shot from the point just under the crossbar. Mike Perkett and Vojtech Luza notched assists on the goal. Smirnov nearly tied the game two minutes later, but he was robbed by Halstrom's glove.

Hobart finished the game with a 31-23 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams were 1-for-5 on the power play.

The Statesmen will be back in action next weekend, Jan. 10-11, when it welcomes Babson and UMass Boston to The Cooler for a pair of NEHC contests. Hobart will take on Babson on Friday at 7 p.m. and UMass Boston on Saturday at 4 p.m.
