SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-The seventh ranked Hobart College hockey team defeated Skidmore 4-1 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at the Saratoga City Rink this evening. With the weekend sweep, the Statesmen are now 14-4-3 overall this season and 8-4-2 in NEHC play.

Four different players scored a goal for Hobart in the victory. In total, eight different players recorded a point. Sophomore
Liam Lascelle started in goal and made 25 saves in the win.

Mike Gelatt scored a goal for the second straight day for the Thoroughbreds (10-7-4, 6-6-2). Brandon Kasel started in goal and made 29 saves in 59 minutes of action.

Skidmore opened the scoring just past the midway point of the first period. Gelatt wristed a shot from the slot past Lascelle for his sixth goal of the season. Cole Beckstead and Austin Rook were credited with assists on the goal.

Thirty-three seconds later, sophomore
Dan Sliney tied the game with his fifth goal of the season. He wrapped around the back of the net and stuffed the loose puck across the goal line. Junior
Andrew Longo was credited with an assist on the goal.

Skidmore was called for a five minute major with sixteen seconds remaining in the opening period. Nearly all of the Hobart power play carried into the second period and the Statesmen capitalized on the advantage with the fresh sheet, scoring two power-play goals. Ninety seconds into the frame,
Zach Sternbach scored what would prove to be the game winning goal. He deked around a defender and wristed a shot past Kasel for his ninth goal of the season. One minute later, Schneider snapped a shot from the left faceoff circle into the back of the net. Sophomores

First-year Felix Lamoureux added an empty-net goal in the third period to ice the game. Senior
Will Harrison was credited with an assist on the goal.

Hobart finished the game with a 33-26 edge in shots on goal. The Statesmen were 2-for-7 on the power play and Skidmore was 0-for-6 with the man advantage.

Hobart will be back in action next weekend, Feb. 7-8, when it welcomes Southern Maine and New England College to The Cooler for a pair of NEHC games. The Statesmen will host the Huskies on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. and the Pilgrims on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m.
