GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team will play the middle game of a three-game homestand on Stiles Field at the Thomas B. Poole '61 and Family Sports Dome. The Statesmen will welcome Siena College to campus for a 1 p.m. opening faceoff.
Hobart (1-0) will play indoors for the second straight week due to the game time forecasted temperatures. The actual temperature is expected to be in the mid-20s with a feels-like temperature in the teens.
WEOS-FM (89.5/90.3) will broadcast the game live. Viewers can watch the game online at www.hwsathletics.com/watch. Fans will also be able to track the contest with Live Stats.
Hobart opened the season with a 22-8 win over Canisius. It's the most goals the Statesmen have scored on opening day since netting 30 against Arizona to open the 1990 season. Sam Lucchesi made 10 saves while allowing just two goals in two and a half quarters of work.
Siena also won its season opener, defeating Long Island University 14-12. With just two minutes left in the third quarter, the Saints held a 13-6 lead, but over the next eight minutes of play, the Sharks rattled off six straight goals to make it a one-goal game. Christian Watts' goal with about four minutes left stopped the run and gave Siena an insurance goal. Junior attackman Jack Kiernan paced the Saints with five points on a goal and four assists. Junior goalie Anthony Tebbano made 12 saves to earn the win.
Saturday's game will be the 11th between the Statesmen and Saints. Hobart leads the series 7-3, including a 22-12 win in Loudonville, N.Y. Faceoff specialist
Matthew Pedicine '19 broke the NCAA game record for faceoff wins by going 32-of-37 at the X, while eclipsing the Hobart Division I era record for ground balls with 20. Sophomore attackman
Jason Knox also broke a Hobart Division I era record, as well as the Northeast Conference record, scoring nine goals.
Due to state fire code, occupancy of the dome is limited to 299 people, including student-athletes, coaches, officials and game management staff. Admission to the game will be restricted to people on the teams' pass lists. There will be no general admission.
The only beverage allowed inside the Dome is water. Food and drink are otherwise prohibited. Vaping, smoking, or the use of other tobacco products are also prohibited as is chewing gum.
