OBERLIN, Ohio—The William Smith College tennis team fell to Oberlin 7-2 this afternoon.
Oberlin ended doubles play with a 3-0 lead. Juniors
Charlotte Engebrecht and
Katelyn Nguyen fell to Dina Nouaime and Claudia Olaes 8-1 in the No. 2 spot. Sophomore
Maggie Bonomo and senior
Morgan Hamre fell in the No. 3 spot to Alandria Bellamy and Francesca Kern 8-5. Seniors
Allie Perron and
Kate Foley lost to Delaney Black and Isabelle Olaes 8-6 in the No. 1 spot.
In singles play, Perron and Foley collected wins for the Herons. Perron defeated Isabelle Olaes 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 spot. Foley downed Claudia Olaes 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8). Nguyen fell to Kern 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Bonomo fell to Nouaime 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1. Engebrecht fell in in the No. 5 spot 6-1, 6-0. Hamre lost to Hannah Keidan 6-4, 7-6, (7-2).
William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, Mar. 1, at 9 a.m. for a match against Wooster.
