GENEVA, N.Y. — Senior
Eric Holden scored five goals and added one assist to lead the Hobart College lacrosse team to a 22-8 win over Canisius College on Stiles Field at the Thomas B. Poole '61 and Family Sports Dome this afternoon.
Holden started off his day scoring two goals in as many minutes. Holden's second goal gave the Statesmen a 4-0 lead. With one minute left in the first quarter, Holden secured the hat trick, giving Hobart a 6-2 lead going into the second quarter.
Senior
Justin Scott and sophomore
Derrek Madonna each recorded one goal in the first quarter, and finished the game with three apiece. Scott opened the scoring for the Statesmen thirty seconds into the game. After two shots by Scott and one by Holden, Madonna fired a shot into the back of the net to score Hobart's fifth of the day. Just like the first quarter, Scott got the scoring going in the second quarter to increase the Statesmen's lead to 7-2.
Holden netted his fourth of the day off a pass from first-year
Adam Shea. After Shea won the faceoff, he immediately found Holden who fired off a shot past Cody Haas.
Hobart added four more goals with three and a half minutes left in the second quarter. Madonna and Scott tallied goals, along with first-year

Drew Blanchard added assists. At the end of the second quarter, Hobart notched 14 goals, and senior
Sam Lucchesi only allowed Canisius to score twice.
The Statesmen did not stop shooting, netting six unanswered goals in the third quarter. With seven minutes left, the Golden Griffins' Jacob Buck scored, cutting Hobart's lead to 20-3. Buck led Canisius with six goals. The Griffs added two more to end the quarter trailing 20-5. Canisius outscored the Statesmen 3-2 in the fourth quarter.
Blanchard won 8 of the 18 faceoffs he took, and Shea won 7 of 14. Shea scooped up a game-high 5 ground balls.
Junior
Ryan Archer and sophomore
Bradley Simas recorded three points, and twelve Statesmen overall tallied at least one point.
Lucchesi made 11 saves in 38 minutes. First-year
Kevin Holtby stopped four shots in 15 minutes, and junior
CJ White stopped one in 6 minutes. Haas and Otto Bergmann split time in goal for Canisius. Haas made five saves, and Bergmann made 11.
Hobart will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 15 when they host Siena at 1 p.m.
