GENEVA, N.Y. — The No. 35 Hobart College squash team finished second in the Liberty League Championship after losing 9-0 to No. 5 Rochester this afternoon. Earlier today the Statesmen defeated No. 40 Bard 8-1.
In the first match against the Raptors, junior
Quinn Udy defeated Theo Webb 12-10, 11-5, 11-6 in the No. 1 spot. Udy has won nine games this season. First-year
Giacomo Dalle Molle downed Artun Ak 11-9, 11-4, 11-6 in the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, sophomore
Mo Abdelhafez downed Noah Gichan 11-5, 11-3, 11-7. Abdelhafez is 7-5 this season. First-year
James Mazzarelli and sophomore
Cameron Temoyan won in three games at Nos. 4 and 5 respectively. Sophomore
Eric Molina earned his fifth win of the season at No. 6, and classmate
Quran Davis recorded a win at No. 7. Junior
Jeffrey Wan won in five games in the No. 9 spot.
In the second match against the Yellowjackets, Udy and Dalle Molle fell at Nos. 1 and 2 respectively in three games. Mazzarelli and Temoyan fell in three games, and Molina lost at No. 6. Rochester won in three games at Nos. 7 and 8, and won by default at No. 9.
The Yellowjackets won the tournament 4-0. Hobart finished second (3-1), St. Lawrence finished third (2-2), Bard finished fourth (1-3), and Vassar finished fifth (0-4).
The Statesmen will be back in action Friday, Feb. 28, when they travel to Boston, Mass. for the CSA Team National Championships.
