BOSTON, Mass.— The No. 33 Hobart College squash team fell to No. 34 Fordham 5-4 in the final match of the Chaffee Cup this morning. The Statesmen finished second overall.
The match was decided in the No. 6 spot. Sophomore
Eric Molina battled Winthrop Reed for the fifth point of the match. Reed won the first game 13-11, and Molina tied it up winning the next game 11-7. Winthrop took the lead again with an 11-2 win, and Molina came back to tie it up capturing the fourth game 11-3. Reed edged Molina 11-9 to win 3-2, and give Fordham the 5-4 edge to win the Chaffee Cup.
Hobart collected wins at Nos. 1-3. Junior
Quinn Udy collected his twelfth win of the season with a victory at No. 1 over William Douglass 11-2, 11-2, 11-5. First-year
Giacomo Dalle Molle defeated Patrick Rodden 8-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-6 in the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, sophomore
Mo Abdelhafez captured his tenth win of the season with a victory over Tommy White 11-5, 11-1, 11-3.
Fordham won at Nos. 4 and 5. Sophomore
Quran Davis collected his ninth win of the season with a victory over Justin Deckoff 8-11, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9 at No. 7. First-year
Charlie Beall and junior
Jeffrey Wan fell at Nos. 8 and 9 respectively.
The Statesmen will be back in action Friday, Mar. 6 for the CSA Individual National Championships in Philadelphia, Pa.
