GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College basketball team returned to the court for the first time in 13 months tonight, hosting St. John Fisher College in an exhibition game in Bristol Gymnasium.
Junior
Olivia Parisi led the Herons with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. She also grabbed five rebounds. Senior
Kyesha Talerico added nine points and four boards. Senior
Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou contributed seven points and a game-high nine rebounds. Junior
Christina Mitrow handed out a game-high four assists. Sophomore
Lauren DeVaney was credited with a game-high five steals
St. John Fisher got 12 points and seven rebounds from Claire Kruszka while Lauren Robbins added 10 points off the bench.
The Cardinals controlled the first and fourth quarters on the way to a 68-44 win. St. John Fisher outscored William Smith 20-4 in the opening quarter. The Herons won the second quarter 21-16, to go into halftime down 36-25. Kruszka led all scorers with 10 points at the break.
William Smith got within eight, 41-33, on a 3-pointer by sophomore Kirstin Kelly with 4:20 left in the third quarter. St. John Fisher closed the quarter on a 13-4 run to keep the Herons at bay.
The Herons will play another exhibition game on April 2, hosting RIT.
