GENEVA, N.Y. — The William Smith College tennis team was edged by Skidmore 6-3 in a Liberty League match at the HWS Tennis Center this afternoon. The Herons are 0-3 to start the season while the Thoroughbreds improve to 2-0.
William Smith took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Junior
Maggie Bonomo and
Audreyanna Camacho are now 3-0 in doubles play this season following a 8-4 win over Maya Lai and Chanhtel Thongphok in the No. 1 spot. Senior
Louisa Morrow and first-year
Jamie Fine won their match at No. 3 by default.
Skidmore won four of its five singles matches in straight sets. Bonomo played the tightest match of the day in the No. 1 spot. She was edged in three sets by Lai 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Fine won her singles match by default.
Skidmore extended its Liberty League win streak to 35 matches.
After a week off, William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, April 17, when it takes on RIT. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
