NEW HARTFORD, N.Y.—The William Smith College golf team competed in the 36-hole Hamilton College Invitational at Yahnundasis Golf Course this weekend. The par 73, 5,756-yard course hosted a field of 90 golfers representing 18 colleges and universities, including three in the WGCA top 25.
Emma Nedeau led the Herons, shooting a 91 on Day 1 and a 90 on Day 2. She tied for 52nd place.
Lark Ervasti was the second Heron in the clubhouse recording rounds of 93 and 95 to finish 58th.
Ashley Byron tied Nedeau for the Day 1 team lead, carding a 91. She shot a 102 on Day 2 and finished 59th.
Fifth-ranked Williams won the team title by 10 strokes over second place Amherst. The Mammoths are ranked 23th in the nation. No. 21 NYU was third followed by Hamilton, Middlebury, Cortland, Ithaca, Union, Wesleyan, William Smith, Suffolk, Nazareth, St. John Fisher, St. Lawrence and Utica.
William Smith will return to action on Sept. 25-26, when the Herons compete in the CORTACA Northeast Challenge, co-hosted by Cortland and Ithaca.
