The recent surge in COVID cases has caused several Hobart and William Smith Colleges' athletic contests to be canceled impacting the Hobart hockey and squash teams and the William Smith squash and swimming and diving teams.

The nationally ranked Statesmen hockey team was scheduled to play Babson on Friday, Jan. 14 and Southern Maine on Saturday, Jan. 15. The game against the Beavers has been postponed to Sunday, Jan. 16, while the game against the Huskies has been canceled.

The Statesmen squash match against Fordham, originally slated for Jan. 22 has been canceled. Hobart squash is in action this weekend, facing Bowdoin and Colby on the road.

William Smith squash was set to host Fordham on Wednesday, Jan. 19. The Rams have canceled that trip to Geneva too. The Herons are also in action this weekend, playing matches at Bowdoin and Colby.

In swimming and diving, the Herons were set to return to competition in the Kumpf Invitational hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, but that event has been canceled by the Engineers.
