Herons to head north for league weekend

Parisi, Jarvis named to league honor roll

The William Smith College basketball team will head to the North Country for its next two games, visiting Clarkson on Friday, Jan. 21 and St. Lawrence on Saturday, Jan. 22. The Herons will make the trip with two members of this week's Liberty League Honor Roll, forward Olivia Parisi and guard Brooke Jarvis.
 
Parisi averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks in a 1-1 week for the Herons. She had 13 points, seven boards, and two assists against Skidmore. On Saturday, Parisi led all scorers with 18 points in William Smith's 73-53 win over Union. She added seven rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots against the Dutchwomen.
 
In 12 starts this season, Parisi is averaging 16.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists. She leads the team in field goal percentage (.470) and ranks fourth in the nation in free throw percentage (.923).
 
Jarvis averaged 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds last week. She produced her fourth double-double of the season with a game-high 19 points and a game and season-high 16 rebounds against Skidmore. Against Union, Jarvis contributed 15 points and three boards.
 
Also a starter in 12 games this season, Jarvis leads the Herons in scoring at 17.0 points and adds 7.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals. She's shooting 40% from the floor and 65.7% at the line. Jarvis is fourth in the conference in scoring and is among the national leaders in free throws made (17th, 65) and free throws attempted (10th, 99).
 
William Smith (4-8, 3-3) will head to Potsdam riding a six-game wins streak against Clarkson (2-11, 1-6). Tipoff in the Golden Knights' Alumni Gymnasium is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. All spectators in Alumni Gymnasium must wear a mask at all times. Clarkson will webcast the game and produce live stats.
 
On Saturday, the Herons will head to Canton to take on St. Lawrence (11-1, 5-1) at 2 p.m. The teams split the home-and-home series in 2019-20 with the Saints prevailing on their home floor 70-54. William Smith returned the favor two weeks later in Geneva, taking a 55-52 win.
 
Burkman Gymnasium is open to spectators with mask required at all times when indoors. SLU will webcast the game and produce live stats.
