4 Herons selected to Academic All-District teams

Four members of the William Smith basketball team were named to the 2025-2026 Academic All-District® NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Team selected by the College Sports Communicators. Seniors Carly Scott and McKenzie Mandyck as well as junior Miranda Martin and sophomore Bridget McCleary were this year's recipients.
 
CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least one full calendar year at their current institution, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and participate in at least 90% of their team's competitions or start in 66% of their team's competitions.

An educational studies major, Scott earned a spot on the Academic All-District® team for the second time of her career after earning her third consecutive Liberty League All-Academic recognition.

On the court, Scott played in 25 games for the Herons, starting one. She captained a young William Smith squad and averaged a career-high 22.4 minutes and 4.4 points, while grabbing 1.6 boards. She dished out a career-high 29 assists while forcing 17 steals and blocking two shots. Scott ranked 12th in the conference in 3-point field goals per game (1.2) and dropped a career-high 15 points at St. Lawrence, sinking five three pointers against the Saints.

A sociology major, Mandyck earned a spot on the Academic All-District® team for the second consecutive season after earning her third straight Liberty League All-Academic selection.

On the court, Mandyck started in all 25 games for William Smith. She averaged a career-high 24.8 minutes, 4.8 points and 3.0 rebounds. Mandyck dished out a career-high 29 assists and forced 17 steals. She dropped a career-high 16 points against SUNY Brockport, shooting 4-of-7 from behind the arc against the Golden Eagles. Mandyck also grabbed a career-high eight boards against Liberty League foe, Ithaca.

An economics major, Martin was named to the Academic All-District® team for the second-straight season after earning her second consecutive Liberty League All-Academic recognition.

On the court, Martin played in 25 games, starting six for the Herons. She averaged 17.1 minutes, 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds. Martin forced 16 steals and dished out 14 assists while recording seven blocks in her junior season. She scored a season-high 11 points at Vassar and grabbed a season-high seven boards against Bard.

A biology major, McCleary earned a spot on the Academic All-District® team for the first time in her career. Earlier this season, she was named to the Liberty League All-Academic team for the first time as well.

On the court, McCleary played in 25 games, starting seven for William Smith. She averaged 15.2 minutes, a career-high 2.8 points and 3.9 boards. McCleary dished out a career-high 34 assists and forced a career-high 19 steals. She added eight blocks as well this season. McCleary dropped a career-high nine points at SUNY Brockport and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds against Union.
