3 Herons earn Liberty League weekly recognition

Three members of the William Smith field hockey team were recognized by the Liberty League for their performances last week. Sofia Pattillo was named the Offensive Performer of the Week while Kristen McCormick was named the Defensive Performer of the Week. In addition, Alaura Enright was named to the weekly honor roll.
 
Pattillo recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Hartwick in the first round of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships. She fired off eight shots against the Hawks, landing seven on goal in the win. Pattillo finished the season second on the team with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists and helped the Herons to their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2015.
 
McCormick was named the Defensive Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season. In Wednesday nights win over Hartwick, McCormick recorded two saves to secure her ninth shutout of the season. In a 1-0 loss to No. 4 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, she posted seven saves, including a penalty stroke stop to keep the game tied at zero. McCormick posted a 14-4 record on the season, with a .783 save percentage and a 0.93 GAA, which is 14th best in the nation.
 
Enright was named to the weekly honor roll after scoring her first career goal for the Herons in the win over Hartwick on Wednesday. She has appeared in 16 games this season, recording two points and landing all three of her seasons' shots on goal.
