Jackson Meshanic was named the Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week by the conference office today.

The Statesmen headed into Thanksgiving break on a high note, defeating preseason No. 11 Rochester 73-72 on Tuesday. Meshanic led the Statesmen with game highs of 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists, outdueling the Yellowjackets' All-American forward Ryan Algier (17 pts, 6 rebs, 1 asst).

In a game that went right down to the final buzzer, Meshanic played a key role in putting Hobart in front. Rochester grabbed a 72-71 lead with 30 seconds left, but he restored the Statesmen lead with about 12 seconds to go with a tip-in. Then he tied up Algier for a steal on a Rochester inbounds pass with seven seconds left to help protect the lead. Meshanic was 11-of-18 shooting for the game.

Through six games, Meshanic leads Hobart in scoring, rebounding and assists. He's averaging 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Meshanic is shooting .561 from the floor, .611 from 3-point range and .750 at the free throw line.

Meshanic leads the Liberty League and is sixth in the nation with four double-doubles. He also leads the conference in total points (47th in the nation), field goals made (30th), total rebounds (21st) and rebounds per game (31st). Meshanic is second in the Liberty League in total assists and fifth in assists per game.

Hobart (4-2) will play the middle game of its five-game homestand at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 when the Statesmen welcome Keuka (2-0) to Bristol Gym. The Statesmen lead the series with the Wolves 10-8 and have won each of the past four meetings, including a 121-89 win at Keuka last season.
