GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team will wrap up the regular season at home against Liberty League leaders Vassar and Rensselaer. The Statesmen will welcome the second place Brewers to Bristol Gym at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 followed by a 4 p.m. tipoff on Saturday against the first place Engineers.
The games will be webcast on HWS All-Access and broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7). Fans can also track the action with Live Stats.
Hobart is 11-12 overall, 8-8 in conference play. The Statesmen are tied St. Lawrence and Union for fifth place. The top six teams make the Liberty League Tournament. The Saints will host the Dutchmen and Skidmore, which is in fourth place with an 8-7 record. Union and Skidmore will also play at Clarkson.
Jackson Meshanic leads Hobart in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.6 ppg and 9.0 rpg.
Aidan Rodgers adds 11.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg and a team best 2.7 apg. The Statesmen are coming off a 97-77 win over Bard on Tuesday that saw
David Corrales Marco score a game-high 19 points making all six of his 3-point attempts.
Following a 78-66 win over Skidmore last Saturday, Vassar brings a 15-6 overall record and an 11-4 Liberty League mark to Geneva. Zach Johnson paced the Brewers producing team highs of 14.5 ppg, 12.3 rpg and 3.2 apg. Avni Mustafaj and Ethan Ellis add 13.8 ppg and 10.1 ppg, respectively.
Hobart leads the all-time series with Vassar 36-7, but the Brewers won the most recent meeting 68-65 in Poughkeepsie on Dec. 4, 2021.
Rensselaer carries a four-game winning streak into the weekend. The Engineers are at RIT on Friday. Patrick Mahoney leads four RPI players in double figures, producing 15.1 ppg. Mason Memmelaar chips in 14.3 ppg and a team-high 6.6 rpg.
This will be the 122nd meeting between Hobart and Rensselaer. The Engineers lead the series 71-50, including a 75-64 win in Troy earlier this season.
